Joyce began working part-time with Horis Ward, Sr. in 1982 at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home on Candler Road in Decatur.  After several years with the Ward family in the corporate business, she joined Scot and Richard Ward at Scot Ward Funeral Services. 

Joyce and her husband, Gene, reside in Loganville.  They have two daughters and sons-in-law, four grandchildren and one great-grandson.  Joyce and Gene are active members of Corinth Baptist Church in Loganville. 

Over the years Joyce has worked in most every area of administration for the funeral home.  Sometimes she is referred to as “the insurance lady.”  However, she doesn’t mind that at all because she feels that helping others is a ministry and gift she wants to share.  Joyce also plays piano/organ for funeral services when needed. 

Given her 26 years with the Ward family, she has surely found her niche.
