| ***** Memorial Verses ***** | |
| Home in Heaven | You Wonder Why I Went Away |
| I am home in Heaven dear ones; | You wonder why I went away, |
| oh, so happy and so bright! | and did not say goodbye, |
| There is perfect joy and beauty | I could not bear to tell you, |
| in this everlasting light. | for it hurts to see you cry. |
| My ship came in, | |
| All the pain and grief is over, | and beautiful to see. |
| every restless tossing past; | For the captain was King Jesus, |
| I am now at peace forever, | and He softly beckoned me. |
| safely home in Heaven at last | I ran across the byway, |
| and fell down at his feet. | |
| There is work still waiting for you, | He gently took me in His arms, |
| so you must not idly stand; | my rest is now complete |
| do it now, while life remaineth- | |
| you shall rest in God’s own hand. | |
| What God Hath Promised | |
| When that work is all completed, | God hath not promised |
| He will gently call you Home; | skies always blue, |
| oh, the rapture of that meeting, | flower-strewn pathways |
| oh, the joy to see you come! | all our lives through; |
| God hath not promised | |
| sun without rain, | |
| joy without sorrow, | |
| peace without pain. | |
| In Memory | But God hath promised |
| You left a beautiful memory | strength for the day, |
| and a sorrow too great to be told, | rest for the labor, |
| but to us, who loved and lost you, | light for the way. |
| your memory will never grow old. | Grace for the trials, |
| Always a silent heartache, | help from above, |
| many a silent tear, | unfailing sympathy |
| but always a beautiful memory | undying love… |
| of one we loved so dear. | Annie Johnson Flint |
| God gave us the strength to bear it | |
| and courage to face the blow, | |
| but what it meant to lose you, | Serenity Prayer |
| no one will ever know. | God, Grant me the serenity |
| Please God, forgive our many tears, | to accept the things |
| and the secret wish that he (she) was here. | I cannot change, |
| There were others, yes , we know, | the courage to change |
| but he(she) was ours, we loved him(her)so. | the things I can |
| and the wisdom | |
| to know the difference. | |
| I Am Free | The Open Gate |
| Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free. | Thoughts surround your mind today |
| I'm following the path God has laid, you see. | that cause your heart to grieve. |
| I took His hand when I heard His call. | The moment is approaching |
| I turned my back and left it all. | when you will turn to leave. |
| I could not stay another day | |
| to laugh, to love, to walk or play. | Envision with me if you will, |
| Tasks left undone must stay that way, | a place beyond death’s gate. |
| I found that peace at the close of day. | Life goes on forever there, |
| If my parting has left a void, | and beauty never fades. |
| Then fill it with remembered joy. | |
| A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, | Sickness can’t gain entrance |
| oh yes, these things I too shall miss. | and death has lost its hold. |
| Be not burdened with times of sorrow. | Tears are wiped by God’s own hand |
| I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. | and no one can grow old. |
| My life's been full, I savored much; | |
| good friends, good times, | The moment that I left you here |
| a loved one's touch. | I stepped into that place |
| Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, | prepared for me and ready |
| don't lengthen it now with undue grief. | when I stepped through the gate. |
| Lift up your heart and share with me, | |
| God wanted me now; He set me free. | |
| God's Garden | |
| Miss Me, But Let Me Go | God looked around His garden |
| When I come to the end of the road | and He found an empty place. |
| and the sun has set for me, | He then looked down upon this Earth, |
| I want no rites in a gloom filled room; | and saw your tired face. |
| why cry for a soul set free. | He put His arms around you |
| and lifted you to rest, | |
| Miss me a little, but not too long, | God's garden must be beautiful, |
| and not with your head bowed low. | He always takes the best. |
| Remember the love that we once shared. | He knew that you were suffering, |
| Miss me, but let me go. | He knew you were in pain, |
| He knew that you would never | |
| For this is a journey that we all must take; | get well on earth again. |
| and each must go alone. | He saw the road was getting rough |
| It's all a part of the Master's plan, |
and the hills were hard to climb, so He closed your weary eyelids, |
| a step on the road to home. | and whispered, "Peace be thine." |
| When you are lonely and sick at heart, | It broke our hearts to lose you |
| go to the friends you know, | but you didn't go alone, |
| and bury your sorrows in doing good deeds. | for part of us went with you |
| Miss me, but let me go. | the day God called you home. |
| Footprints In The Sand | Safely Home |
|
One night I had a dream.
I was walking along the beach with the Lord and across |
I am home in
Heaven, dear ones; Oh, so happy and so bright! |
|
the skies flashed scenes from my life.
In each scene I noticed two sets of footprints |
There is a perfect
joy and beauty In this everlasting light. |
|
in the sand. One was
mine and one was the Lord's. When the last scene of my life |
All the pain and
grief is over, Every restless tossing passed; |
|
appeared before me, I looked back at the footprints in the sand and, to my surprise, |
I am now at peace
forever, Safely home in Heaven at last. |
|
I noticed that many times along the path of my life, there was only one set of footprints; |
Did you wonder I so
calmly Trod the valley of the shade? |
|
and I noticed that it was at the lowest and saddest times in my life. I asked the |
Oh! but Jesus' love
illumined Every dark and fearful glade. |
|
Lord about it.
"Lord, You said that once I decided to follow You, You would |
And He came Himself
to meet me In that way so hard to tread; |
|
walk with me all the way.
But I notice that during the most troublesome |
And with Jesus' arm
to lean on, Could I have one doubt or dread? |
|
times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why |
Then you must not
grieve so sorely, For I love you dearly still: |
|
you left my side when I needed you most." The Lord said: "My precious |
Try to look beyond
earth's shadows, Pray to trust our Father's Will. |
|
child, I never left you during your time of trial. When you see only one set |
There is work still
waiting for you, So you must not idly stand; |
|
of footprints, I was carrying you." |
Do it now, while
life remaineth-- You shall rest in Jesus' land. |
| When I Must Leave You | Oh the rapture of
that meeting, Oh, the joy to see you come! |
| When I must leave you for a little while, | |
| please do not grieve and shed wild tears | |
| and hug your sorrow to you | |
| through the years, | |
| but start out bravely with a gallant smile; | Irish Prayer |
| and for my sake and in my name | May the road rise up to meet you. |
| live on and do all things the same. | May the wind be always at your back. |
| Feed not your loneliness on empty days, | May the sun shine warm upon your face, |
| but fill each waking hour in useful ways, | and the rains fall soft upon your fields. |
| reach out your hand in comfort and in cheer | Until we meet again, may God |
| and I in turn will comfort you | hold you in the palm of His hand. |
| and hold you near; | Amen |
| and never, never be afraid to die, | |
| for I am waiting for you in the sky! | |
| We part with our loved ones but not forever | |
| if we trust God's promise and doubt it never. | |

| Afterglow | Miss Me, But Let Me Go |
| I'd like the memory of me | When I come to the end of the road |
| to be a happy one. | And the sun has set for me. |
| I'd like to leave an afterglow | I want no rites in a gloom filled room; |
| of smiles when life is done. | why cry for a soul set free. |
| I'd like to leave an echo… | |
| Whispering softly down the ways | Miss me a little, but not too long, |
| of happy times, and | And not with your head bowed low. |
| laughing times, and | Remember the love that we once shared. |
| bright and sunny days. | Miss me, but let me go. |
| I'd like the tears of those who grieve, | |
| to dry before the sun | For this is a journey that we all must take; |
| and be replaced with happy memories | And each must go alone. |
| I leave when life is done. | It's all a part of the Master's plan, |
| A step on the road to home. | |

| Be Thankful…Even For the Pain | And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds. |

| Be thankful for the difficult times; | I am not there, I do not sleep. |
| during those times you grow. | |
| Be thankful for your limitations, because | I am a thousand winds that blow, |
| they give you opportunities for improvement. | I am the diamond glints of snow, |
| Be thankful for each new challenge, | I am the sunlight on ripened grain, |
| because it will build your strength and character. | I am the gentle Autumn rain. |
| Be thankful for your mistakes; | |
| they will teach you valuable lessons. | When you awake in the morning's hush, |
| Be thankful when you're tired and weary, | I am the swift unflinging rush |

| When | To Those I love and |
| When you see a butterfly, | Those who Love Me |
| you will know I'm somewhere near. | When I am gone, release me, let me go-- |
| When the little birds sing, | I have so many things to see and do. |
| you will know that I will hear. | You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears, |
| be thankful for our beautiful years. | |
| When the Summer turns to fall | |
| and leaves lay on the ground, | I gave to you my love, you can only guess |
| you will feel me passing by | how much you gave to me in happiness. |
| though I won't make a sound. | I thank you for the love you each have shown, |
| but now it's time I traveled on alone. | |
| When the wind blows through the trees | |
| and gently carresses your face, | So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must, |
| know that I can feel it too | then let your grief be comforted by trust. |
| from some heavenly place. | It's only for a time that we must part, |
| so bless the memories within your heart. | |
| When oceans roll upon the sand | |
| and sea gulls fly overhead, | I won't be far away, for life goes on, |
| watch for dolphins, think of my life, | so if you need me, call, and I will come. |
| mourn not that I am dead. | Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near, |
| and if you listen with your heart, you'll hear | |
| When many years have come and gone | all my love around you soft and clear. |
| and you find you are weary too, | |
| remember all the love we shared | And then, when you must come this way alone, |
| and know I'll wait for you. | I'll greet you with a smile and say |

| A Virtuous Woman | In Memory |
| Proverbs 31 | You left a beautiful memory |
| Who can find a virtuous woman? | and a sorrow too great to be told, |
| For her price is far above rubies. | but to us, who loved and lost you, |
| The heart of her husband safely trusts in her. | your memory will never grow old. |
| She will do him good and not evil | Always a silent heartache, |
| all the days of her life. | many a silent tear, |
| Strength and honor are her clothing; | but always a beautiful memory |
| and she shall rejoice in times to come. | of one we loved so dear. |
| She opens her mouth with wisdom; | God gave us the strength to bear it |
| and in her tongue is the law of kindness. | and courage to face the blow, |
| She attends well to the ways of her household | but what it meant to lose you, |
| and eats not the bread of idleness. | no one will ever know. |
| Her children rise up and call her blessed; | Please God, forgive our many tears, |
| her husband also, and he praises her. | and the secret wish that he (she) was here. |
| Many daughters have done virtuously, | There were others, yes , we know, |
| but you excel above them all. | but he(she) was ours, we loved him(her)so. |
| Favor is deceitful and beauty is vain, | |
| but a woman that fears the Lord, | |
| she shall be praised. | |
| God Saw (He/She) Was | |
| A Wonderful Mother | Getting Tired |
| God made a wonderful mother, | God saw he (she) was getting tired |
| A mother who never grows old; | and a cure was not to be, |
| He made her smile of the sunshine, | so He put His arms around him (her) |
| And He molded her heart of pure gold; | and whispered, "Come With Me." |
| In her eyes He placed bright shining stars, | With tearful eyes we watched him (her) suffer |
| In her cheeks, fair roses you see; | and saw him (her) fade away. |
| God made a wonderful mother, | Although we loved him (her) dearly, |
| And He gave that dear mother to me. | We could not make him (her) stay. |
