Ellis Beck

Ellis Irwin Beck, age 73 of Conyers, died Friday, September 16, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, Irwin and Lillian Beck, Jr. He is survived by his god-daughters, Shanell Kirton, Charmaine and Edwin Baltazar; long-time friend, Blondell Brown; sisters, Vickie Scholts, Judy Gage; and brother, Keith Beck. Mr. Beck was retired from the United States Navy with over 25 years of service. He served two tours in Vietnam and during the Gulf War in Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He was highly decorated and received many commendations including the Navy Unit Commendation, Combat Action Ribbon, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, three Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, two National Defense Service Medals, several Good Conduct Awards, Navy 'E' Ribbons, Southwest Asia Service Medals, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Civil Actions Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Expert Rifleman Medal, Expert Pistol Shot Medal, Certificate of Honor for service in Vietnam from former Governor Nathan Deal, and a Certificate of Appreciation from the Walk of Heroes. Ellis was a member of the American Legion Post #77 in Conyers and Post #145 in Douglasville for over 20 years involved in the Sons of the American Legion, Sergeant-at-Arms for the American Legion and an honorary part of the Legion Riders. He volunteered at New Light Church Ministry and was a giver to many charities including St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the local Humane Society, Shriners International Club, to name a few. Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 23, 2022 at 12 p.m. at Scot Ward's Green Meadow Chapel with Bishop Artis C. Crum and Pastor Cassandra M.
