Robert Philip Gandy

Robert Philip Gandy passed away on Wednesday, June 5th, 2024. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 57 years, Jeanette Prince Gandy, Conyers, Georgia; his beloved children, daughter, Lisa Gandy Sager (Sean Sager), Houston, Texas, their children Spencer Sager (Brianne), and Sam Sager, daughter Kristen Gandy Isaacson (Nick Isaacson), their children Asher Isaacson and Alden Isaacson. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Charles Gandy, his mother, Helen Vivian Gandy, and brothers Patrick Robson and Richard Gandy. He was born in Charleston, West Virginia, July 28th, 1941, to Robert and Helen Gandy. He moved to Atlanta, Georgia in his teens due to his dad's job transfer. This move led him to leave behind many cousins and friends that he missed dearly but his enrollment at Sylvan Hills High School opened the door to new lifelong friendships, many of which he kept in contact with up until his death. Phil was incredibly patriotic and had a lifelong love of airplanes and World War II history. He served in the United States Air Force and was tremendously proud of all armed service members. In his retirement years, one of his favorite things to do was to attend air shows. He spent a career in relationship building. Throughout his career, he received many awards titled Salesperson of the Year. However, he always insisted that he was no salesman. He simply found joy in getting to know people. He was authentic and ethical in every aspect of his business and personal life and that served him tremendously well throughout his successful career. Once retired, he spent a number of years giving back to his community in service as a CASA representative in Rockdale County. He was awarded Volunteer of the Year for 2010 for his contributions made through the program. He was also a member of the Rockdale County Sheriff's Association for many years and loved his time supporting those who protect and serve the town he chose to reside in and raise his children. We were blessed to call him Husband, Dad and Grandaddy. He was fiercely devoted to his family. He was a constant, ever-present force in our lives. He dedicated his life to guiding us, encouraging us, and he never missed an opportunity to remind us that he was proud of us. We will miss him terribly and are so thankful that God blessed us with him. He taught us what real strength is, the importance of honesty and hard work, and how to always look forward, pressing on regardless of physical limitations. A funeral service will be held Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Scot Ward's Green Meadow Chapel with Reverend James Ward officiating; interment will follow at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens.
