Sharon Rose Tillman Norton December 29, 1947 - August 29, 2023 Wow, where to begin? Sharon (aka Mom, Gigi, Aunt Sharon) was, as one of her nieces so aptly put recently, 'Wonder Woman.' We thought being a mother was her calling; oh, but then she became a Gigi. Her sister Janice said, 'she sure did love you girls, but those grandbabies' they were her entire world.' We've sat here for days trying to condense the entirety of our Mom into words to encompass the amazing person she was; well, it has proved impossible. She made a positive impression on all she met. If you were fortunate enough to know her, you understand, and no other words are necessary, but we will still try to summarize as best we can. As a young girl and into adulthood she had what she referred to as a 'warped sense of humor.' We would like to think it was just a great one. She loved to have fun and made the simplest errands into adventures. She laughed and loved with all her heart. She was kind and loving; honest; intelligent and beautiful, but humble; generous; thoughtful; spontaneous; ahead of her time in so many ways including healthy living and acceptance of all people; spiritual; she lived, to the best of her abilities, as Jesus taught us; she always did the right thing even when it was the hardest; she personified elegance, class, poise, and grace (insert all other positive adjectives we missed here). She instilled all these qualities in those closest to her as well. She put everyone else above herself. Always. She was the most incredible daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, wife, mother, Gigi, friend, and person. As a young woman she put herself through nursing school and encouraged us all to educate ourselves, be the best at what we loved, and to follow our dreams. She always led by example, had a strong work ethic, and volunteered in the community while raising 3 daughters on her own. She was a volunteer and President of Prevent Child Abuse Rockdale for many years. During her more than 45 years in nursing she worked her way through many departments in numerous hospitals around the country including the operating room, emergency room, floor charge nurse, utilization review, and case management. She also worked with the Red Cross at the beginning of her career. All exemplars of how she lived her life to help others. Sharon was the granddaughter of William and Eula McDilda and Atticus and Bertie Tillman; daughter of Bargeron and Betty Rose Tillman. Survived by brother Billy Tillman (Mary Alice), sister Janice Morris (Ned); daughters Rachelle Norton, Meredith Azar (Nick), and Tiffany Norton; her grandson Gavin Azar who was her kindred spirit, and her favorite granddaughter McKayla Azar; Nieces Kim Berry, Amy Morris (Chris Richter), and Sheri Smith (Doug); Nephews Daniel Morris (Cassidy), Rob Wardlow (Angie), and Randy Wardlow (Niky); as well as their families; her grand fur babies Atticus and Paisley, and many friends. Her close family and friends had a celebration of life in private to laugh and love as Sharon would have wanted.
