Charlotte Sweeten

Charlotte Ann Sweeten, age 79 of Covington, died Friday, October 6, 2023. She is survived by her husband, Ron Sweeten; children, Tracy Dean Sweeten, Andrea Wynn Sweeten, Ronda Sweeten Rutledge; grandchildren, Bethany and Bryan Valle, Kayla and Mitchell Harshbarger, Clint and Kara Rutledge, Amy Rutledge; great-grandchildren, Christopher Mace, Jesse Mace, Hunter Harshbarger, Kynlee Rutledge, Landon Harshbarger, Rhett Rutledge; sisters, Brenda Clark Bole, Norma Gay and Ken Pingel; plus multiple nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her step-son, Steven Neal Sweeten; parents, Dillard and Ruby Clark; and 7 brothers and sisters. Helping raise her siblings, Charlotte was deeply rooted in family and especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved her church community and was very involved. Her heart was in teaching preschool to the 'Little Lambs' at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Preschool and heading the Christmas programs. She was very selfless, with an infectious smile and sweet spirit. She never met a stranger. She loved children and often invited neighborhood kids for dinner. She and her high school graduating class had a strong relationship and still returned for reunions. Charlotte loved the outdoors, especially the flowers, hummingbirds, and dragonflies in her garden. She was also very fond of the ocean and collecting seashells at the beach. She was very creative, loved painting and even wrote a novel. A lover of music and dancing, her favorite was 'The Twist'. She and Ron were married nearly 59 years and she always made sure Ron was taken care of. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Bethany Presbyterian Church with Pastor Brandon Douglas officiating; interment will follow at Bethany Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 10, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Bethany Presbyterian Church.
