Clyde Walcott

Clyde Carlisle Walcott aka 'Boy', a nickname used by his close family and friends, was the second of seven children born to Verbena Gertrude Walcott (nee King) and Neville McGregor Walcott, both deceased. Uncle Boy, as he was fondly called by his many nieces and nephews, spent his early years growing up in the Durban Street, Lodge section of Georgetown Guyana, where he attended Smiths Church & Lodge Government Primary schools, Montmartre High School and completed his tertiary education at the University of Guyana where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree. He had a strong love for all sports, especially cricket, basketball, track & field, and soccer. He was known for his speed as a track athlete during his school years growing up in Guyana. On July 21, 1979, Clyde married the love of his life Donna, and their union produced two beautiful children Julian and Tian. His wife and kids were his greatest treasure and he worked tirelessly to ensure he provided them with a good life. Before migrating to the United States, Clyde worked as a diligent Public Servant with the Government of Guyana for 30 years. His years of service included leadership positions within the Office of The President, Office of The Prime Minister, and The Ministry of Agriculture. As a senior leader, he was well loved and respected by his colleagues. While living in New York, he worked with The New York City Department of Transportation until he retired in 2019. He later relocated to the State of Georgia in 2021, where he lived in the City of Conyers until he transitioned to be with his Lord and Savior on July 24, 2023, after a brief illness. Anyone who was privileged to know Clyde had no choice but to love him. He had a beautiful spirit, big heart, and generous personality. He was a quiet and laid-back fella but was also very outspoken in certain situations. He enjoyed a 'spirited gaff' about whether Lebron James or Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time. He also loved music, especially 'oldies' and gospel with favorites from Frank Sinatra, Roberta Flack, and CeCe Winans. Clyde has left cherished memories for his wife: Donna; children: Julian and Tian; grandchildren: Liam, Emeri & Kennedy whom he loved dearly; sister: Cherryl; brothers: Randolph (Bud), Keith (Chips), Clairmont (Brisbane), Andy, Max (Rootsman) and Andre (Hut-Up); daughter-in-law: Kenita; son-in-law: Lanre; nephews: Keenyon, Harry, Timon, Rashaun, Clifton, Jermaine, Nicholas and Amani; nieces: Shawndell, Nyasha, Kered, Shari, Janelle, Shanella, Dana, Keiscia, Tiffany, Ebony, Shattel, Ariel and Sarah; aunt: Carole Bishop; sisters-in-law: Lisa, Debbie, Cheryl, Francine, Ann, June and Beverley; nieces-in-law: Roxanne, Vanessa and Wayneth; nephew-in-law: Jermaine ; great nieces: Teneea & Zuri; great nephews: Cameron and Kai; cousins: Myrna Kendall and Verna Johnson, Shelda, Avril, Myrna, Freddie, Marie, Verna, Arlene, Ken, Jerome, Neville, Roderick, Howard, Beverley and Shellana; adopted sisters: Eleanor Forde & Nona Barker; adopted brothers: Aubrey Hunte, Lennox Stuart & Terrence Barker; dear friends: Donald, Britton, Hart, Neibert , Bobb-Semple and a multitude of other beloved friends. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 3, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Scot Ward's Green Meadow Chapel; entombment will follow at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
