Doret Lilieth Millen

Doret Lilith Millen (nee Gordon) November 25, 1957 - April 21, 2025 Doret Lilith Millen was born on November 25, 1957, in May Pen, Clarendon, Jamaica, West Indies, to Iris Elveda Gordon and James Gordon. She was raised with strong family values and a deep-rooted faith that guided her life from an early age. Doret attended Denbigh High School in Jamaica before migrating to the United States as a teenager. She continued her education at Wingate High School in Brooklyn, New York, and later attended business school in downtown Manhattan. Throughout the years, Doret dedicated herself both to her family and to meaningful work. She was a devoted housewife and also worked diligently in various roles, including at Rite Aid, as a home health aide, and for the Henry County Board of Education. In May of 1980, Doret met the love of her life, Wendell Millen. Their love flourished, and they were united in marriage on September 11, 1982. Together they built a life centered on love, faith, and family, and were blessed with four sons and one daughter. Doret was called home to be with the Lord on April 21, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents, Iris and James Gordon; her beloved son, Justin Millen; and her brother, Fitzgerald Gordon. She leaves behind her loving husband, Wendell Millen; her devoted children: Simone Smith, Jason Millen, Jerome Millen, and Jamaal Millen; her son-in-law Dennis Smith; and her daughters-in-law: Lee Quinn Millen, Lisa Millen, and Sharnelle Millen. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Jaqucon, Zuri, Judah, Levi, Janai, Caius, and Justin; and her beloved great-granddaughter, Janessa. Doret is further survived by her siblings: Novelette (Miriam) Allison, Marvalene Nkabinde, and Tetla Gordon; her brothers: Samuel McLean, Owen (Delroy) McLean, Carl (Myson) Gordon, and Larry Gordon; her sisters-in-law: Marva Gordon, Jhonnie Gordon, Laronnie McLean, and Marie McLean; her brother-in-law, Frank Nkabinde; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and beloved church members and friends. Doret's legacy is one of faith, compassion, humility, and unwavering love for her family and community. Her life touched countless others, and her memory will continue to inspire all who knew her. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Scot Ward's Green Meadow Chapel, interment will follow at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday, May 16, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, and Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
