Rev. D. Clark McPherson, Jr Rev. D. (Dudley) Clark McPherson, Jr, aged 93 of Conyers, died Wednesday July 29, 2026. He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Dudley C. McPherson, Sr; mother, Esther J. McPherson, sister, Cherie Agnew; sister, Rosalie McPherson; son, Terry Lee McPherson (infant) and his wife, Betty J. McPherson. He was married to Betty for just over 68 years when she passed. He is survived by his brother, Nelson McPherson; sister, Bonnie McPherson Cooper; sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Peggy McPherson, Mark and Janice McPherson, Shawn and Darlene McPherson, Dana McPherson, Seth and Lady McPherson; eight grandchildren, John Fields, Timothy McPherson, Matthew McPherson, Jonathan McPherson, Nicholas McPherson, Breena Park, Samuel McPherson, Annabelle McPherson; four great-grandchildren, Alexis Kidd, Hunter McPherson, Michael McPherson, Kynzie McPherson and a new grand daughter that will be born in late August, 2026. He was born in Columbus, Ohio on March, 23, 1933. He lived in the Columbus area until 1956 when he moved to Florida with his wife and son Chris. He loved the Lord and was a retired member of the North Georgia United Methodist Conference as an ordained Elder. He ministered numerous churches in service of Our Lord for more than 50 years. His father was also a minister for many years. He started in the Church of the Nazarene in Florida in the late 1950s.He then switched to the newly formed United Methodist Church in 1969 and moved from Florida to Georgia to attend the Chandler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta where he earned his Masters of Divinity. He ministered at more than 20 churches over the years while raising a family of 5 sons. He loved working with wood and made many wooden items to give away and a few to sell. He was a skilled carpenter and journeyman plasterer. His father was also a skilled carpenter and architect. He had the honor to build a few churches over the years including one in Rockdale County. He had a Bachelors of Arts degree from the University of South Florida and taught Earth Science in Florida prior to moving the family to Georgia. He was a man of many talents and skills. He loved to build things and built at least 4 houses for himself and the family. He also built and remodeled quite a number of other houses for other people. He enjoyed working puzzles, reading and making items in his woodshop. He also enjoyed teaching and was a substitute teacher in several of the elementary schools after he retired. The kids loved to call him "grandpa" when he did that. He and Betty enjoyed taking their grandkids and great grandkids to various places. He also loved to travel. He and Betty went on several cruises, visited many of the United States, made several trips to Europe, including Germany, France, England, Scotland, Denmark and Russia and made a special trip to the Holy Land to "walk" in some of the steps of his Saviour. He and Betty loved to go to Novia Scotia, especially Prince Edward Island. He even made a couple mission trips to Haiti. For him, the command from Jesus to "go" wasn't passive because he loved the Lord. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 1:30pm with Rev. Michael Hutcheson at Scot Ward Funeral Service in Conyers, Georgia. Visitation will be on Friday, August 7, 2026 from 6-8pm at Scot Ward as well.
