Franklin Leroy Lewis

Franklin 'Buck' Leroy Lewis, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2025, at the age of 85 in Monroe, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Jo Lewis, whom he married in 1988. Together they shared many wonderful years filled with love, family, and laughter. Franklin was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Carrie Lewis, and by three of his siblings: James (Lucille), Horace (Jean), and Betty (Bill). He is survived by his siblings: Charles (Joyce), Helen (Bryon), and Marvin (Rita); his children: Kathy (David), Kenneth, Carol (John), Stuart (Pam), and Scott (Andreana); and by his cherished grandchildren: Kevin (Amy), Lindsey (Frank), Curtis; Kylie (Austin), Gracen (Mark), Kyndal; Preston, Chase, Madison (Jake), Lauren; Colin (Rebecca), Taylor (Savanaa), Brian; Savannah, Michael, Braydon, and Knox; as well as great-grandchildren. Franklin was born on June 14, 1939, in Conyers, Georgia, to Roger Daniel Lewis and Carrie Leila Knight. He graduated from Rockdale County High School in 1958 and went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1962, achieving the rank of Airman Third Class. In 1963, Franklin began working in the warehouse of the William F. Bishop Company, which later became Bishop & Brogdon. Over the years, through dedication and hard work, he rose to become a part-owner of the company, where he remained until his retirement in 2006. He was a member of BYO Atlanta and proudly served as its president in 2002. Through this organization, Franklin formed many lifelong friendships - bonds he cherished and maintained faithfully throughout his life. After retiring, Franklin and his beloved wife settled at Lake Martin, Alabama, where the family shared some of their most treasured memories together. It was a place filled with laughter, storytelling, and togetherness - a reflection of the life he built and the love he gave. He will be remembered for his strength, work ethic, contagious laughter, and unwavering love for his family. Franklin's presence enriched the lives of all who knew him, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those he loved and who loved him. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 20th, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Scot Ward Funeral Services in Conyers, GA. The funeral service will take place at Scot Ward Funeral Services on Wednesday, May 21st, at 1:00 p.m., with a private graveside ceremony for immediate family to follow.
