Kenneth Dale Stokes

Mr. Ken Stokes, age 80 of Loganville, died Thursday, July 4, 2024. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Stokes, Loganville; siblings, Peggy Grim (Bill), Ricky (Sue) and Larry Stokes (Theresa) of Glencoe, OK; children, Shari Henderson (Greg), Westminster, SC; Rick Collier (Mendy), Tulsa, OK; Tony Stokes (Anh), Glencoe, OK; and Kenny Stokes (Tracy), Loganville; grandchildren, Lisa Dressler, Amber Davis, Joe Henderson, Jaimee Hingerton, Steven Collier, Shelby Johnson, Nicole, Chase, Miranda, Kenny III, Lorie, Meagan, and Johanna Stokes. Also surviving are many great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ken and Geneva Stokes and sibling, Randy Stokes. Mr. Stokes was born in September 1943 on Bear Creek in Pawnee, Oklahoma, and spent his early years living in various towns across the state before relocating to Georgia in 1977. He dedicated over 60 years of his life to pastoral service, beginning as a circuit preacher at Hallett Christian Church of Hallett, OK and Coyle Christian Church of Coyle, OK while completing his studies at Midwest Christian College. He later served at Wellston Christian Church of Wellston, OK; Southside Christian Church of Sapulpa, OK; Glencoe Church of Christ of Glencoe, OK; West Gwinnett Christian Church of Duluth; and finally Bethel Christian Church of Conyers, where he remained an active member until his passing. Alongside his pastoral roles, Mr. Stokes also previously worked as a mailman, milkman, and fireman in Oklahoma. He was a founder of Misión Caribe in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, and made more than a dozen missionary trips there. Mr. Stokes was a proud grill master for Rockdale Christian Youth Sports of Conyers and enjoyed following Braves baseball, tending to his backyard, and daily communion with God. He often expressed anticipation to be reunited with the Heavenly Father, quoting 1 Corinthians 2:9, 'For as it is written, ‘Eye has not seen, ear has not heard, nor has the human heart imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.’ Mr. Stokes’ deep faith and love for his family were evident throughout his life, and while his absence will be keenly felt, his loved ones find solace knowing that he is now joyfully experiencing the fulfillment of 1 Corinthians 2:9. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 8, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Scot Ward's Green Meadow Chapel with Pastor Caleb Penwell officiating; interment will follow at Bethel Christian Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends Sunday, July 7, 2024 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
