Margie Sellers

Margie Lee Smith Sellers was born on October 19, 1939 in Dothan, Alabama. She, her younger sisters Gail and Levonia and younger brother Ray, grew up on a farm in Donalsonville, Georgia. She attended Andrew College where she played basketball, was Miss Andrew 1959, and received her Associate's degree. She met her husband, Don, through his cousin and they married on March 4, 1960. They had four children and made their home in Conyers, Georgia in 1972. Margie was a homemaker, taught kindergarten and was also a teacher's aide. Later she worked for Vantage Products as an administrative assistant. Margie had a huge love for Ebenezer United Methodist Church where she was a very active member. She taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and Children's Choir. She played piano at Ebenezer, sang in the choir, played handbells, played softball, helped with BBQ's, the visitation program, and most anything else that was asked of her. She truly loved Ebenezer and it helped to shape the incredible woman that she was. After the death of Don in 2009, Margie found love again with Roy Barton. They were married in 2012. They have enjoyed many wonderful years together. Roy's three sons Troy, Tim and Chad, with their spouses and children, welcomed Margie into their families with open arms. Margie was preceded in death by her first husband Donald M. Sellers. She is survived by her loving husband Roy, her children Kathy Harrell (Ted) of Jackson's Gap, Alabama, Marty Sellers of Conyers, Nancy Sellers of Marietta and Dawn Sellers (Barrett) of Austin, Texas. She has three grandsons and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 19, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Ebenezer United Methodist Church with Dr. Terry Walton officiating; interment will follow at Ebenezer United Methodist Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 18, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
