ALEXANDER, Mary Mrs. Mary Carlton Alexander, age 86 of Conyers, died Friday, April 6, 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mattie Pruitt; husbands, Jack E. Alexander and Edwin Carlton; brothers, Gene Pruitt, Quinton Pruitt; sisters, Edna Jackson, Joyce Blackstock; grandson, Chris Alexander. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Martha Carlton, Frank Carlton, all of Adairsville, Mike and Karen Carlton, Gary Alexander, all of Conyers; daughters and son-in-law, Beverly and Ray Allen, Conyers, Lynn Alexander, Phenix City, AL; stepson and daughter-in-law, Jack and Ann Alexander, Warrenton, VA; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Gayle and Jerry Spinks, Elberton; sisters-in-law, Frances Gaines, Atlanta, Gwen Pruitt, McDonough, Helen Pruitt, Kauai, HI, Mary and Fred Sneed, Snellville; grandchildren, Thomas and Tabatha Carlton, Tampa, FL, Robbie and Renae Carlton, Brian and Katie Carlton, all of Adairsville, Rich and Angie Allen, Conyers, Chris Allen, Jennifer and Gabe Killman, all of Covington, Mary and Scott Alexander, Marietta, Lisa and Casey Christian, Stockton, CA, Kristie and Joey Teague, Chad and Amber Carlton, all of Covington, Kyle Alexander, Ryan Alexander, both of Conyers, Michelle and Ted Hoffman, Susan and Joe Tierney, all of Gainesville, VA, Shannon and Chris Dennis, Winchester, VA, Mia Spinks, Elberton, Natalie Alexander, Rutherford, NJ, Jeremy Alexander, Joel Alexander, both of Warrenton, VA; numerous great-grandchildren; other family and friends. Mrs. Alexander was a loving and devoted mother and will be greatly missed. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life. She was known by many special names Granny, Gain Gain, and Granny Oscar. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Scot Ward's Green Meadow Chapel with Dr. Joseph LaGuardia officiating; interment will follow at Westview Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Monday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Alan Lawhead and his staff at Atlanta Womens Cancer Care and Jennifer Folser, R.N. of Heartland Hospice for their care and support during our mother's illness.
