Mary Magdaline Clark

Nanny Mary S. Clark, age 90 of Conyers, died Saturday, January 18, 2025. She is preceded in death by her husband, Turrell Clark; parents, Charlie and Annie Stephenson; brothers, Billy Stephenson and Frank Stephenson. She was survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Jeff Norman; grandchildren and spouses, Hillary and John Jr. Muirhead and Clark and Maddi Norman; great-grandchildren, Trip, Cooper, and Barrett Muirhead and Kolsen Norman; siblings, Benny and Joan Stephenson, Annette Lee, and Lois Stephenson. Mary Clark, a beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Mary devoted her life to her family-her daughter and Son-in-law, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren-spending as much time with them as possible, always ensuring they felt her love. Cooking was Mary's love language. Her homemade biscuits became something she was well-known for, a taste of her heart and soul that will be deeply missed. A proud fan of the Atlanta Braves, Mary hardly missed a game and was affectionately known as the family's "Coach from the Couch", always ready to share her winning strategies. Mary's heart belonged to the mountains, and she visited them whenever she could, finding peace and joy in their beauty. Her independence and strong work ethic were evident in everything she did, whether it was cutting her own grass to stay active or tending to her garden. She waged an ongoing battle with the deer over her hostas, trying everything from barking dogs to plastic snakes in a good-humored effort to protect her blooms. Diet Caffeine-Free Pepsi was her signature drink, always nearby as she shared stories, laughter, and meals with her family. She lived with strength and a love for family that will be forever remembered. Mary's great-grandson, Trip, beautifully captured her reunion with her loved ones, saying, "Aren't you glad Nanny is with her family now?" While her presence will be deeply missed, her spirit will live on in every meal shared, every baseball game watched, and every laugh echoing through the mountains she loved so dearly. A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 26, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Scot Ward's Green Meadow Chapel with officiating.
