Myrtice Wilzman

With great sadness, we mourn the loss of Myrtice Wilzman, affectionally known as Mercy, who went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 10, 2024, at the age of 91, just 11 days shy of her 92nd birthday. She is survived by her loving daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Steve Bowden, Beth and David Gaddis, and Anna and George Waddy. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, John P. Wilzman, her first born and beloved daughter, Debbie Norton, her parents, Rufus and Geneva Marks, and her ten brothers and sisters. Mercy loved deeply. She loved her childhood home in North Carolina, and frequently told stories of growing up there. Mercy loved to have her hair and nails done, and she rarely went a day without putting on her lipstick - an enduring trait from her days as a beautician at Belk in downtown Charlotte, NC. Mercy loved to cook and what a cook she was! Mercy fiercely loved her family. She, alongside her beloved John, created a safe haven in their home for their family to come to and come they did! Hours upon hours were spent standing around the butcher block snacking on whatever she had cooked, sitting by the pool, or chatting with her in the living room, leaving a lifetime of memories that her family will cherish. Above all else, she loved her Savior the most. Although Mercy will be greatly missed, she is now finally home and fully healed. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Cristian’s House and the care team at Longleaf Hospice for their care and compassion shown to Mercy during her time with them. She was loved well. A celebration of life reception will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2024, drop in from 2:00-4:00 P.M. at Philadelphia United Methodist Church 2194 W Hightower Trail, Conyers, GA.
