Sholar Michelle McElroy

It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Sholar Michelle McElroy, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, on January 8, 2026, in Conyers, Georgia. She was forty-seven years of age. Born on May 26, 1978 in Orange County, Florida, Sholar grew up with the care and example of strong, accomplished women in her family. She carried their lessons and values throughout her life, shaping the family and friendships she cherished. Her natural care for others led her through a nursing career full of joy with three of her closest friends: Dana Hammonds, Maggie Rivers-Cato, and Marie Fox-Harvey. Sholar married Tracy McElroy, the love of her life and her "Bama Man," in 2018, and together they built a life full of renewed love and laughter. As a mother and daughter, she was endlessly devoted, offering love, guidance, and support. Her family was her greatest joy, and she especially treasured her time with her grandson, Carter Silva. Sholar is survived by her devoted husband, Tracy McElroy; her daughter, Kaitlin Silva, and her "son-in-love", Brian Silva; and their son, Sholar"s beloved grandson, Carter Silva. She is also survived by her brother, Brad Hawken, and his daughter, Kristen Zerfoss; her brother, David Dingler, and his wife, Katrina Dingler, along with their daughters, Megan Williams and Heather Ray, and their families; and her uncle, Mark West, and his children, Nancy West-Hortmann and Tripp West. She is also survived by a circle of close friends who will carry her memory with love, trusting that she has gone on ahead to light the path. Now reunited, Sholar was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Ruby A. Webb; her maternal grandfather, Herbert R. Poole; paternal grandmother, Leatrice V. Andrews; paternal grandfather, Horrie L. Dingler, Sr.; father, Horrie Lee Dingler, Jr.; her mother, Patricia Poole; aunt, Barbara West; and great-aunt, Kathryn Adams. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either All About Cats Rescue & Adoption of Roswell, Georgia, or the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America in her memory. A service celebrating her life will be held at Monday, January 12, 2026 at 3:00 PM at Scot Ward's Green Meadow Chapel with Pastor David Dingler officiating; interment will follow at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens. Friends and family are invited to gather, share memories, and honor her beautiful spirit Sunday, January 11, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
