William Jefferson Sullivan

William Jefferson Sullivan, age 95, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2026. Born on February 7, 1931, in Gwinnett County, Georgia, William was raised in Rockdale County, where he developed the strong values of hard work, family, and service that guided him throughout his life. William proudly served his country in the United States Navy as an electrician aboard the USS Bronson during the Korean War, serving four years with honor. Following his military service, he dedicated 42 years of loyal service to Atlantic Steel Company, where he built a respected career before retiring. William found his greatest joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid deer and rabbit hunter who loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing whenever he had the chance. He enjoyed cooking and baking for those he loved, camping with his family, and taking trips to the North Georgia mountains. A devoted Georgia Tech fan, he rarely missed a game and also enjoyed watching NASCAR races. Above all else, William cherished the time he spent with his family, creating memories that will be treasured for generations. William was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mildred Elizabeth Sullivan; his parents, Robbie Elizabeth O'Kelly Sullivan and Thomas Jefferson Sullivan; his grandson, Jefferson Michael Sullivan; and all six of his siblings. He is lovingly survived by his children, William Scott Sullivan (Susan), Keith O'Kelly Sullivan, Gregory Owen Sullivan, Terry Patterson (Greg), Tommy Lackey (Debbie), and Michael Lackey. He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Scot Ward Funeral Home in Conyers, Georgia. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor and celebrate a life well lived. William's legacy is one of unwavering dedication-to his country, his work, and, most importantly, his family.
