Joyce Jeanette Mitchell

July 29, 1933 - May 22, 2022

Joyce Mitchell, dedicated mother of 3, and beloved "Guinea" to three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, has gone home. Her passing occurred in the later hours of May 22nd, 2022. Joyce was widely known and loved in Conyers, GA and many other places and was cherished by many in her community. Her classic love story with her husband, Harold Gailey Mitchell, began in Conyers at 5 years old, and they were married at 17. Her family and friends were blessed with her life that was overflowing with steadfastness, faithfulness, authenticity, and dedication to the people she loved. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Mitchell; daughter, Michele Dean; son, Steve Mitchell; father, Unknown Leach; and mother, Ectner Thomas. She is survived by her son, Scott Mitchell; grandchildren, Jimmy Mitchell, Craig Dean, Lauren Amerin; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Marilyn, and Lucy. In her spare time, she enjoyed doting on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved to make her famous "goodie bags" at Christmas. Although she will undoubtedly be missed, she leaves an everlasting spirit and legacy that will never be forgotten. Joyce was an extremely hard-worker. She spent a career in the trucking/freight industry as a secretary at Yellow Freight Systems, and finished her career by starting another as a Juvenile Court Clerk at Rockdale County Court House. Afterwards she loved working part-time at Village Antiques. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 27, 2022 at Scot Ward Green Meadow Memorial Chapel at 3:00 PM; interment will follow at East View Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, May 27, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lighthouse Village in memory of Joyce.
