Christine Darby Kennedy

Christine Darby Kennedy, age 96 of Conyers, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 9, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Charles Autry Kennedy; parents, Andrew & Pearl Darby; sisters & brother-in-law, Amye Dell Darby, Marie Darby Weeks (Jack); brother & sister-in-law, Virgil Wayland Darby (Carole). She is survived by her daughter & son-in-law, Jane Kennedy Swindle (Russell); grandchildren, Alan Swindle (Megan), Andrew Swindle, Abby Swindle Bassett (Brandon); three nephews, & one niece. Christine was a member of First Baptist Conyers since 1967. She served in her church by teaching preschoolers about Jesus. In later years, she enjoyed taking care of the babies. She loved being a part of her Ladies' Sunday School Class & a member of WMU. Supporting missionaries was important to her. Christine retired from a teaching career in the Cobb County and Rockdale County Schools. She cared about her students' welfare and desired for her students to be successful. She was a dedicated teacher. During her teaching days, she enjoyed being a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, & after retirement, Rockdale County Retired Educators, where she was a charter member. Christine loved to sew, watch things grow, & travel. She enjoyed making the best pies for her family, but most of all, enjoyed spending time with her family & friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Scot Ward's Green Meadow Chapel with Dr. Jimmy Elder & Pastor Butch Davis officiating; interment will be Thursday, January 16, 2025 at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery in Florala, AL. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 15, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. The family would like to extend deep gratitude to Southern Grace Hospice & those at Prema of Ashton Hills, who cared for our loved one. Thank you for the love, kindness, & attention that was shown to her. We also extend a special thank you to Dezrene & Tamika for their dedication & care to Christine.
