Dorothy Sprayberry Kincaid

Dorothy (Dot) Sprayberry Kincaid, age 94, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026. Dot was a cherished member of the Athens and surrounding communities and leaves behind a legacy of warmth, faith, and devotion to those she loved. Dot grew up in Decatur, Georgia and spent her entire life in and around the metro Atlanta area. In 1948, she married the love of her life, James Edwin Kincaid. Together, they built a family rooted in kindness and love. Dot's first job was at Mathis Dairy Farm. She later dedicated her career as the Financial Secretary at Mount Carmel Christian Church, where she was a steadfast presence and loved by all who knew her. Her commitment to her church was unwavering, and her faith guided her throughout her life. Dot was known for her vibrant spirit and diverse interests. She found joy in cooking, writing, and painting, often sharing her creations with family and friends. She loved spending time outdoors-whether by the lake or tending to her yard. Dot was an enthusiastic supporter of the Atlanta Braves (affectionately calling them the 'Bravos') and the Georgia Bulldogs, celebrating both teams in victories and defeats. In her later years, Dot resided at Arbor Terrace Assisted Living in Athens, Georgia. The staff and fellow residents became her extended family, cherishing her gentle nature and generous heart. In her final months, Dot was lovingly cared for in her daughter's home in Athens, with the compassionate support of Agape Hospice of Athens, Angels In The Field Private Care, as well as many devoted family members. Dot was predeceased by her four sisters (Kay, Ann, Jean and Betty), her husband James (Jimmy) Kincaid and her son James Robert (Bob) Kincaid. She is survived by her brother, Morris Brice Sprayberry III (Sonny), her oldest daughter Judy Kincaid Martin (and husband, Ron), her youngest daughter Susan Kincaid Newsome, and her youngest son Roger Edwin Kincaid (and wife, Becky). Dot's legacy lives on through her ten grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. Her family and countless friends will remember her for her kindness, wisdom, faith in God and unwavering love. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Agape Hospice Care in Athens, Georgia, in gratitude for their exceptional care and compassion. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 23, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Scot Ward's Green Meadow Chapel with Pastor Phil Gambill officiating; interment will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens.
