James Edward Hobbs

James Edward Hobbs, age 84 of Conyers, died Friday, May 29, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Milton Hobbs & Lizzie Pearl Hobbs; siblings, Polly McCall & Glenn Hobbs. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Hobbs; children, Tina Hobbs, John (Helen) Hobbs, Shawn Hobbs; grandchildren, Candise (Joe) Young, Shallon Hobbs, Deborah Hobbs, Ashley Hobbs, Kaitlyn Hobbs; great-grandchildren, Bentley, Reese, Rhett, Leona, Jayva, Joseph; sisters, Florine Crane & Peggy Tingle. James enjoyed life & taking care of others. He would give the shirt off his back. Mama & Daddy always took care of each other. Daddy never wanted to be dependent on anyone, no matter what he went through. Mama was always there for Daddy. Shawn stepped up to give Daddy a bath every other day & help with everything. Shallon also stepped up to help with the groceries. & anything they needed. James was hardheaded & stubborn but would help anyone who asked. Give him a new tool & he could be the best product tester, testing everything to its limit, with his ability to try & fix anything he broke. A legend, great father, hero, man of his word, James Hobbs was known to give the shirt off his back to help anybody. He operated one of the best autobody shops to ever exist. He was known throughout town to paint the slickest black paint job, carry it to Hobbs. Everyone knows Hobbs, he fought battles that could kill any man. He stood up for what he believed in & didn't care whether you liked it or not. He loved & cherished his wife, Shirley, taught his boys, John & Shawn, all about the automotive paint & body industry, & loved & supported his daughter, Tina. He always had a smile to welcome his grandchildren. James always had a big heart. As we celebrate a true legend's life, he will be forever in our hearts. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 1, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Scot Ward's Green Meadow Chapel with Mr. Terrell Tyree officiating; interment will follow at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens.
