Jeanette Imogene Bozard

Jeanette Imogene Wilson Bozard, a long-time resident of the metro Atlanta area, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at her home in Conyers, GA. Jeanette was born on October 30, 1931, in Atlanta to IIena Columbus Wilson and Emma Mae (Briscoe) Wilson. She graduated from Commercial High School and on September 4, 1948, Jeanette married Carroll E. Bozard in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Through their devoted, lifelong union they welcomed four children: Lane (Neil) Chasko of Matthews, GA, Russell (Mona) Bozard of Coconut Creek, FL, Carolyn (Troy) Adams of Conyers, and Brad (Brenda) Bozard of Byron who all survive her passing. Her children have memories of their mother that are treasured and enduring. She never failed to satisfy you with laughter, entertainment, and good food. In her children's early years she could be found creating breakfast feasts, fashioning doll clothes from scraps, and amusing a white pet duck (and her children) as it followed her around. The laughter and lessons continued as Jeanette mastered bead and pin ornaments, the art of dancing in the living room when the mood struck her, and researching family without technology. An avid genealogist, Jeanette traced her lineage through several generations to the Bennett family of Gwinnett County, the Brand family of Barrow County, and the Briscoe and Fields families of Walton County. Her passion and adeptness for genealogy lead to her membership in the Gwinnett and Rockdale Historical Societies. You could be sure that when you next saw or spoke to her she would unveil a new family connection. She was resolute in her quest for answers and spoke with strangers in states as far away as Texas - only armed with a touch-tone phone and a lead. Jeanette's wit, humor and spirited disposition will continue to live on through her seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 29, 2016 at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 3p.m. at Scot Ward's Green Meadow Chapel with interment following at Green Meadow Memorial Gardens.
