Jerry Robert Miller

Jerry Miller, March 20, 1941 to October 18, 2013, passed away at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle, surrounded by his family. Jerry was born and raised in Milstead, GA to Ione and Doby Miller. Jerry was an old time country music fan (better known as hillbilly). He loved singers of the 40's and 50's, especially Johnny Cash and was a trivia expert of country music. He also enjoyed NASCAR, UGA football and traveling. He traveled the southeast as a sales rep for 30 years and knew every barbecue restaurant within a 1000 mile radius. He continued to love to drive anywhere, anytime. Jerry loved antique cars and was fortunate to own several. In addition, he loved reading, especially books on history, autobiographies and snow dogs. Jerry graduated from Rockdale County High School in 1959 and was an outstanding football player. He had an amazing memory. He still remembered the games and plays from high school. He was offered a scholarship to Presbyterian College but did not accept it so that he and Anrie, his high school sweetheart, could get married. He later attended DeKalb College. Jerry was a member of Rockdale Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Anrie Kent Miller of Conyers; He was blessed with daughters Jill Miller King and husband Steve King, of Alpharetta, Nada Miller Oller and husband Andy of Madison and son Kent Miller and wife Tiffany of McDonough; grandchildren, Evan Oller of Duck Key, FL, Austin Oller and Julia Max Oller of Madison, McCall King of Atlanta, Hudson King of Statesboro, Jordan Miller and Koby Miller of McDonough; brother, Ronnie Miller of Brasleton; special cousin, Patsy Reagan; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral servies will be held on Monday, October 21, 2013 at Scot Ward's Green Meadow Chapel with Rev. Larry Phillips officiating and interment following in Green Meadow Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 20, 2013, at the funeral home from 6pm - 8pm.
