Lois McDaniel

Lois Morelle Lindsey McDaniel, loving and devoted mother, passed away in Atlanta, Georgia on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 after suffering two strokes. The family will receive visitors at Scot Ward Funeral Services in Conyers, Georgia from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, September 22. The funeral service will be held at Trinity Baptist Church in Conyers, Georgia at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 23 and a family graveside interment will be held at John Luke Cemetery in Fitzgerald, Georgia on Sunday. Lois was born on July 16, 1931 in Brantley County, Georgia to the late Everette James and Ora Mae Luke Lindsey. She was married in Atlanta, Georgia on February 28, 1953 to Charlie Fort McDaniel and they were married 50 years before his death in 2003. Lois, her sister Mary Eva, and her brother, William Howard (Jack), were raised in Fitzgerald, Georgia. She graduated Fitzgerald High School and attended Valdosta State Women's College for two years. After moving to Atlanta in 1950, she lived on Moreland Avenue and worked for many companies in the Atlanta area. After marriage, the family lived in Decatur, Georgia and then built their dream home in Conyers, Georgia in 1973. In 1983, Lois created a printing company, Sterling Printing in Decatur, Georgia. She sold the company in 1997 and became a caregiver for Fort. After his death, she enjoyed traveling to visit her children and grandchildren. Everyone was excited when they saw "Nana's truck" rolling up to their respective houses. Lois and Fort were the proud parents of five children - Dee, Chip, Lane, Katy and Matt - and were thrilled to be grandparents and great grandparents. All of their spouses and children loved Nana and were loved by her. Lois was famous for telling everyone that she was "29 and holding" and very few people knew her actual age because she was so active and youthful. Traveling to new places, visiting relatives and going "cemeterying" were all pastimes which she enjoyed. Sitting on her porch swing and smelling the gardenias outside was a coveted activity while she worked crossword puzzles. She crocheted clothing and afghans for everyone and instilled a love of reading in all of her children. Lois and Fort owned season tickets to the University of Georgia Bulldogs games for over 50 years and she rarely missed a chance to root for the Dawgs. She was a life-long Republican and very interested in politics. Lois is survived by her five children, DeLoice (Dee) Morgan of Harriman, Tennessee; Charles Fort (Chip) McDaniel of Las Vegas, Nevada; Lane Lindsey Lentz of Las Vegas, Nevada; Katherine (Katy) Morelle Smith (Ben) of Monroe, Georgia; and Matthew (Matt) Bozeman McDaniel (Adena) of Spartanburg, South Carolina; sister Mary Eva Lindsey Key of Powder Springs, Georgia; grandchildren - Erin, John, Jacob, Alicia, Amanda, Elisabeth, Alexander, Kaleb, Delaney, McKenzie, Killian, Finnigan, Levi; great grandchildren - Colin, Brianna, Cash, Huck, Cora, Grayson; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
