Nancy Gail Sirmans

Mrs. Nancy Gail Smith Sirmans, age 67, of Conyers, Georgia, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones on July 21, 2026, after a two-and-half year-long journey with pancreatic cancer. Born on October 7, 1958, in Atlanta, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Hershal Dewey Smith and Mae Marie (Parker) Smith. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by several close family members within the Parker family. Nancy was a faithful member of Salem Baptist Church in McDonough, GA, where she participated in the sanctuary choir and MasterSingers, Boomer's Life Group Class, and various Bible studies. Music was transformational in Nancy's life, faith, and cancer journey: She was an integral part of the Covington-Conyers Choral Guild - serving as a Membership Chair, Tour Coordinator, and Performing Member and Jubal Ministries - where she performed as a member of the Jubal Chorus and Jubalheirs. She served as the President, Vice President, and Hospitality Chair of the Rockdale County High School Band Booster Association - supporting her daughters Erin Leigh and Emma Nicole, as well as numerous others she lovingly referred to as "her kids". In her spare time, Nancy kept a full and lively social calendar - traveling with family and friends, singing, and hosting/participating in game nights (most notably, her beloved Bunco group). The beach was her happy place; she was intentional to visit often and enjoy time in the sand with her family and friends. A true Warrior, first surviving breast cancer in 2022 after her diagnosis in 2019, Nancy's positivity, humor, unwavering faith, and heart touched countless people throughout her lifetime. She leaves behind to cherish her husband, Gerald "Jerry" Allen Sirmans, two daughters Erin Leigh (Emilio) Acosta and Emma Nicole Sirmans, and her older siblings David Neal Smith and Sandra Smith (Roger Allen) Waters. Several nieces, nephews, and greats: Michael Allen Waters (Blakely & Hadley), Melody Elizabeth (Kevin David) Mann (Jackson, Cooper, Brooks, Jase), John Parker Smith, as well as beloved extended family from the Smiths/Parkers. A service to honor Nancy's life will take place on Saturday, August 1, 2026, beginning at 3pm at Salem Baptist Church. The family will receive friends and family at 2pm, one hour prior to the service for visitation. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Nancy's honor to fund research in pancreatic cancer treatment.
