Shirley Ann Wilson

Shirley Ann Wilson, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on August 9, 1935, in Atlanta, Georgia, Shirley was the cherished daughter of Troy and Dorothy Fillingim. She grew up surrounded by the love of her parents and siblings, which shaped her nurturing spirit and lifelong commitment to family and community. Shirley was preceded in death by her loving parents, Troy and Dorothy Fillingim, her son Barry Keith Ricks, and her siblings Barbara (Bobbie) Waldrop, Joyce Smith, Doris Waldrop, Ronnie Fillingim, and Jimmy Fillingim. Their absence is felt deeply, but the memories they created together will forever warm the hearts of those who knew them. She is survived by her three sons and daughter in laws, Michael and Jeannie Ricks, Scott and Glenda Ricks, and Kenneth and Deborah Ricks. Shirley was a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren and celebrated the joy of being a great-grandmother to 14 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Her legacy of love continues through them, as they carry forward her spirit of kindness and compassion. Shirley is also survived by her loving siblings Peggy Myer, Betty Williams, and Patty Nash, along with numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart. Throughout her life, Shirley dedicated herself to service and community engagement. She volunteered at Bright Moore Hospice, where her compassion and caring nature provided comfort to those in need. As an active member of Corinth Christian Church, she found joy and connection within her faith community. Professionally, Shirley's career was marked by her love for children and her commitment to nurturing future generations. She worked in various capacities, including as a lunchroom staff member at Old Pine Street Elementary School, a caregiver at multiple daycares, the Deli Manager at Winn-Dixie, and a pharmacy technician at Publix. Through her work, she touched countless lives, leaving an indelible mark on all who crossed her path. Shirley's warmth, humor, and unwavering support made her a guiding light in the lives of her family and friends. She had an innate ability to uplift those around her, always ready with a smile or a kind word. Her love for family was evident in every gesture and every moment shared. As we celebrate the life of Shirley Ann Wilson, let us cherish the memories, share the stories, and carry forward the legacy of love and kindness that she imparted to us all. She may have departed from this world, but her love and spirit will remain with us, guiding us through the days to come. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 27, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Scot Ward's Green Meadow Chapel with David Vesser and Gary Fillingim officiating; interment will follow at East View Cemetery.
