Susie Thompson Sharp

Susie Thompson Sharp, most recently of Fuquay-Varina, NC, passed away November 3rd, 2017, after a decade long battle with dementia. She is survived by her children, Joseph Sharp and wife Laura of Lebanon, NJ, Pamela Sharp of Lacey, WA, and Jeffrey Sharp and wife Cindy of Apex, NC. She is also survived by her brothers Jake and Bill Thompson, and sister Bertie Davis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Sharp, sister Violet Baxley, and brothers Marshall, Creighton, Sory, Ray, and Julius Thompson. She is also survived by a large and loving extended family of spouses, nieces, nephews, and grands that are too numerous to name, but are appreciated greatly for their support. Susie was born on a farm outside of McBee SC, graduated high school in Charleston, SC, and married a WWII-era sailor stationed in Charleston, when after dating for a year, he asked her to marry him now or lose him forever. Their forever lasted over 50 years and included 3 children, 8 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. This journey took them through Atlanta, Nashville, New Jersey (twice), Seattle, Winston-Salem - and finally to retirement in both St. Augustine, FL and Blairsville, GA where they could enjoy both the beach and the mountains. After Luther passed away, Susie moved to NC to be nearer to family. She enjoyed a lifetime of activities from golf to sewing to cooking to traveling - and also served as an Elder, Deacon and active volunteer within her church, wherever she was living at the time. She had a special interest in working with church youth and spent countless hours serving as a youth leader and going on various mission trips. She was also fiercely loyal and made lifetime friends wherever she lived. Dementia is a devastating disease, and she is now truly in a better place. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 18th at the Abbey at Westview Cemetery in Atlanta, GA. A graveside service will follow immediately with Rev.
