Wanda Herndon Scott

Wanda H. Scott, a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, departed from this world on December 31st, 2023 at the age of 71. She leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and a life well-lived. Wanda was born April 27th, 1952 in Lynchburg, Virginia, and from an early age, she found purpose in her faith, giving her life to Christ while attending Hills Creeek Baptist Church in Gladys, Virginia. Her spiritual journey was a guiding light throughout her life. Wanda pursued her education at Johnson C. Smith University, where she graduated with a degree in Sociology. Her passion for understanding society and its dynamics would become a driving force in her career and personal life. Following her graduation, she worked for Eastern Airlines for 15 years where she grew her passion for travel. She then dedicated herself to Travel Incorporated for 34 years, starting as a consultant and steadily rising through the ranks to become a Supervisor, Manager, and ultimately, the Senior Vice President of Operations. Her leadership and expertise were instrumental in the company's success. Wanda's devotion extended to her family, where she was not only a loving mother to her children, Jason Scott and Ashley Turner but also a doting grandmother to Anthony, Kylie, Olivia, Holden, and Gabriel who affectionately called her 'Lovey'. Her home was the center point of many family celebrations, and her unconditional love and support enriched their lives immeasurably. Wanda is survived by her children, Jason Scott (Julie Scott) and Ashley Turner (Keon Turner); her grandchildren, Anthony, Kylie, Olivia, Holden and Gabriel; her mom, Alma Herndon; her brothers, Ronald Herndon and Donald Herndon; her sister-in-law Tammy Herndon (Tia Herndon & Ron Herndon Jr.). Wanda also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and cherished loved ones, all of whom she held close to her heart. Wanda was preceded in death by her father, Floyd C. Herndon. She now rests in eternal peace, reunited with her beloved father and embraced by the love of her Heavenly Father. Services to celebrate Wanda's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 8th at Scot Ward Funeral Services in Conyers, Ga. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Johnson C. University.
